Τα British Academy Film Awards απονεμήθηκαν και φέτος στο «Royal Albert Hall» στο Λονδίνο, σε μία βραδιά από την οποία αναδείχτηκαν οι καλύτερες ταινίες της χρονιάς και οι συντελεστές τους.
Μεγάλος νικητής ήταν η ταινία «Οι Τρεις Πινακίδες Έξω Από Το Έμπιγκ, στο Μιζούρι» αφού κατέκτησε το βραβείο σε 5 κατηγορίες, ανάμεσά τους αυτές της Καλύτερης Ταινίας και της Καλύτερης Βρετανικής Ταινίας.
