Χωρίς παρουσιαστή και με δεκάδες αστέρες να δίνουν το παρών είτε ως θεατές είτε ως απονεμητές σε κάποια κατηγορία, τα φετινά βραβεία Oscar κατάφεραν να αναδείξουν ως μεγάλο νικητή την ταινία "Παράσιτα" που τελικά κέρδισε και το βραβείο για την Καλύτερη Ταινία της χρονιάς.

Στις προσωποκεντρικές κατηγορίες αναμενόμενοι ήταν οι νικητές με τον Joaquin Phoenix να κατακτά το χρυσό αγαλματίδιο για τον "Joker" αλλά και η Renee Zellweger να βλέπει η καριέρα της να λάμπει για δεύτερη φορά κατακτώντας ακόμα ένα Oscar, αυτή τη φορά για το "Judy", για τη συλλογή της.
